I picked up Morning Glories Volume 1 pretty much as an impulse buy. I saw it sitting by the counter and remember reading somewhere that it was a good read, so decided to pick it up. The review I read was that it was like tv’s Lost.
After reading the first collection, I’d have to agree. I really enjoyed reading it, but much like Lost, I have no idea whats going on. There’s lots of mysteries going on that makes me want to read more.
The story revolves around 6 students that have been accepted by a prestigious prep school. After arriving at their new school, they learn that they all share a strange connection and the school is really a front of something more sinister. With no outside help coming to help them, the students clash with their ‘teachers’ as they try and find a way out.
I thought it was definitely worth the read, what are everyone’s thoughts?
I figured I’d put that in because this is the debut of the all new (yet again) Venom! Actually the entire issue The Amazing Spider-man #654.1 is about Venom, and it’s new host: Flash Thompson!
The basic story here is injured war hero Flash Thompson is selected by the government to be a secret agent with the help of the Venom suit. After each mission, Flash is separated from the suit so no bond can be made between the two, and he only gets 20 missions before being pulled from the program.
I’ve always liked the Flash character. Really, for a minor character he’s shown lots of growth, moving from a jock bully in the early days to a decorated war hero. I’m glad we’ll be seeing more of him in the future.
At least until they put the Venom suit on someone else…
See you next time!
Well, more specifically, we have one of Marvel’s oddest character: HELLCOW!
I was almost giddy when I saw Hellcow would be joining Deadpool in this one, and not because I’m some huge fan of the vampire cow. It all started a few weeks ago…
While at my day job, some co-workers got into a discussion about super villains. One stated that every country in the world had some kind of super villain from there. Another argued that no super villian has ever came out of Switzerland. This resulted in a frantic internet search to find some nefarious being from Switzerland. And the result?
There was a couple others, but Hellcow was by far the best. And now, Bessy is back to spread her own brand of terror across the Marvel Universe!
See you all next time on The Bookshelf.
