NorthWest Passage by Scott Chandler is a fictional historical account of the early colonization of North America in Rupert’s Land. English forts are being attacked by French mercenaries looking to get rich off the forts’ furs. The survivors seek allies from local trappers and the Native Americans to retake the fort before winter sets in.
Chandler’s writing is very good, and when mixed with the great black and white art, it creates an amazing read. Added to that is the page by page annotations at the end that give a look at the creative process, and this is well worth taking a look at!
